Beautifully designed barn door made by the Dogon people of Mali. It was perfected to seal a ceramic and stone granary, which contained agricultural products that would have supported a large social group between harvests. Barn doors were therefore of primary importance to the Dogons, as the family would have starved to death if rats or other animals had managed to enter the barn. Storage is therefore considered safe, as it is kept by ancestors whose images are often depicted on barn doors.

Each piece has a unique design , with impressive animal sculptures, figures of names or fertility symbols. All doors are striking and attractive pieces of secular African design and each one tells a story, with scenes from life. They come in different sizes, from small to large.

It is made of carved wood, with some notches.
