The toguna is an open structure, consisting of a straw roof supported by a series of vertical wooden pillars, which contain symbolic representations in reference to Dogon mythology, especially they are sculpted with representations of anthropomorphic figures. The Toguna building was used for meetings of family elders, who together with the village chief, formed the council of elders to discuss and resolve village problems.
It is made of carved wood.
