Description

This Senufo mask is a zoomorphic helmet and is known as Kponiugo. It represents a mythical being who protects the community from evil forces, sorcerers and soul thieves.

The Poniugo mask (Kponiugo) can sometimes present a terrible and threatening appearance.

The mask is depicted with the jaws of a hyena, the tusks of a warthog and the horns of an antelope.

It is made of carved wood, with carvings.
