The statue of the Dogon woman seated is an abstract style sculpted from Bombou-Toro and originates from the Dogon people of Mali. Dogon's figures are predominantly associated with the cult of ancestors. Carved for personal or family use, they celebrate the foundation of a community and are worshiped by villagers. It is a stylistically beautiful example, with small and delicate age-related cracks.
It is made of carved wood.
