Bambara is originally from the tradition Bamana artist, representing a nubile young woman. It is used in the rituals of Jo, one of the few secret societies that includes women among its initiates. They act as mediators between the earthly and the spiritual world. These pieces are objects of offer and are believed to have the function of imparting wisdom to the oldest male member of the family.

The figures are brought from the sanctuary to appear at annual public ceremonies. They evoke stature, great dignity and hieratic. Piece in light Bambara style, with chiseling on the head, neck and chest.
