SUJEITO A CONFIRMAÇÃO

---------------------------------------------

A superb Bamana rider and horse hand carved and used by the Bamana people of Mali. The sculpture features many elaborately carved details. The rider has very narrow triangular facial features and short arms that are unique in relation to the rest of the proportions. The horse and rider share similar details, including elongated necks and a narrow overall shape. Bamana equestrian figures reflect the prestige and strength that surround horses and, therefore, their riders. Horses in the Bamana culture are associated with royalty, masculinity and warriors. The owner of a horse was not only wealthy, but also worldly, as horses were the best means of movement, long distance communication, commerce and war.

It is made of carved wood and worked metal.
